With its dark and gothic medieval tone, Mortal Shell from indie studio Cold Symmetry wears its inspiration proudly and loudly. A single-player RPG where intense and brutal melee combat that aims to "return people to that familiar, satisfying pain of a traditional soulslike - deliberate, measured, and merciless".

It looks pretty impressive too - with impressive art, animation, and atmosphere. In Mortal Shell you take control of a spectral being and in the case of the Open Beta possess Harros and Tiel.


Awakening as an empty vessel, you will enter into a shattered and twisted world where the remains of humanity wither and rot. Implored to do the bidding of the mysterious “Dark Father”, you must traverse this tattered landscape and track down hidden sanctums of devout followers. There, in Mortal Shell’s most hallowed grounds, you must overcome formidable foes and harvest the sacred glands.
