The game is still refused classification in Australia and Warner can't legally market the product to us but that doesn't stop the rest of the Internet. A new trailer for upcoming DLC for Mortal Kombat has found its way online and introduces the first new downloadable character, Skarlet.

As was revealed in a recent interview, Skarlet's inclusion is something of a fan service -- a reference to an old glitch in the original arcade version of Mortal Kombat that caused the Jade/Katana/Milena character to pallete shift to a red costume.

With the latest Mortal Kombat offering no longer resorting to cheap palette shifting, Skarlet has now become a wholly-realised, unique character -- a scantily-clad femme-fatale who appears to like blood... a lot of blood.

Australians looking to get a hold of this upcoming DLC will likely have to resort to registering (and funding) international Xbox Live or PlayStation Network accounts to gain access, but if you're one of the many people that have gone to the effort of importing the game in the first place (as described in this article by our friends over at GamePron) that's probably not going to present much of a challenge.

Copious amounts of tomatoes sauce or wut.

In terms of importing, I learnt that customs screen certain suppliers from certain countries. I managed to get a couple in with the 1 order no problemo. So if you dig wuts cookin holla at ya boy.

My copy came thru with no problems. I'm sure people at customs have more things to worry about than copies of Mortal Kombat coming thru. F*****g awesome game by the way.

Heh, how do you make Mortal Kombat bloodier? Make a character who's made out of blood! :P She looks interesting, but I dunno, I seem to be a big of a chauvinist pig in MK, I really don't like playing any of the female characters.

But yeah, people have got them from Amazon, Cdwow, hmv, game.co.uk, mighty ape, ozgameshop, play asia, all without problems. I don't personally know anyone who had their copy confiscated, so its pretty easy to get. And definitely worth it! As rev said, f*****g awesome game.

You can, but you need to make an overseas XBox Live account, I made a UK one and I'm able to activate the online pass and get DLC through that, and then once you've downloaded it you can sign in and play with your normal account and the DLC is there.

All the retro costumes and fatalities are being released as a DLC pack as well, in fact that might already be out, it might have come out this week (if not its very soon).

I haven't played a lot of games online cos its a bit laggy, even against people in Australia, and it f**** with my timing, can't pull off my fully sick combos. But theres a patch landing pretty soon, possibly next week, that is going to make some (hopefully positive) changes to the netcode.

I found it got laggy when more & more people would join in King Of the Hill, doing straight 1v1 matches from the Aussie channel though was sweet.

Was there any mention of the Xbox version getting something like the PS3 one? The stage fatalities are awesome in the Kratos level, be nice if there was something of equal content amount.

Speaking of stage fatalities, i'd be happy the spend extra $$$ on more of them, there's so much potential for the bell tower & highrise levels. and more characters fatalities aswell, bring back Quan Chi's leg fatality!! :)

Anyone else annoyed with trailers for games that come out where the first 20 seconds or more is nothing but stupid ads for the companies?

Quan Chi does have his leg fatality, I do it all the time. Its hilarious, he just keeps going and going and going, like if I'm playing versus against someone on the same console, I just sit at the "Rematch/Choose new character" screen for a while and Quan Chi just keeps pounding them senseless with their leg in the background nonstop.

I haven't even done his other fatality, cos that one is too cool. But yeah, belltower is definitely a contender for a stage fatality, I'm pretty sure it had one in MK3 even.

Skarlet, she must have had bogan parents, probably why she is so angry and gets into fights.

Also on the todo list is making videos run not in flash (native playback on smartphones etc and hopefully webm).

"Quan Chi does have his leg fatality"

!!, & here I was thinking I did them all after finishing the Krypt, clearly i missed some! :)

Still, I want more fatalities as DLC, as the classic characters in the Klassic DLC get an extra oldskool fatality, seems only fair the newer characters get the same treatment :)

Finally got around to ordering my copy of MK a couple days ago. Got the bookends version I wanted so I'm pretty happy about that. Can't wait to start playing it, MK was always my favorite fighter franchise and I haven't been able to really get into an MK game since MK3. The 3d ones just never did anything for me.

ebay. That's the PS3 version, I'm sure there would be plenty of 360 ones as well if that's what you were after.

If you want the statue instead of the book ends, Mighty Ape has some copies of that version

They even have some of the one with the joystick
