Continuing their ticking off of everyone's shooter features wishlist, Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling confirmed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 would indeed support LAN play, another feather in the shooter's cap, and a step-up from where the team left Modern Warfare 2 and many a disgruntled PC gamer.

"Yes, #MW3 has LAN along with detailed class restriction control + default class creation option," he said via a Tweet before adding in another, "Ability to restrict any weapon, equipment, perk, deathstreak, secondary, attachment, ANYTHING from being used when setting up game."

Say what you will, at least IW are trying to recapture the core PC audience with smart decisions.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is due to release November 8, and AusGamers will be getting hands-on with the multiplayer portion of the game sometime next week, so stay tuned for a detailed write-up in the not-too-distant future with our own thoughts on their latest MP offering.

Yeah, I'm waiting for Green Man Gaming to get it. Only reason I'm buying it is it will be my arcade FPS, and has the dedi's.

Well that's that, sold. Now to find a physical copy for $50 somewhere.

Finally! So sick of getting onto a server and getting a random abusive kick saying "no 203 f*****" or the like.

Surely in big populations (ie USA) there would be massive LANs that this would appeal to greatly. Add in the custom game rules (no perks etc) and thats pretty much a pro game right there like they did with COD4.

I still LAN every mid semester break and during mid year and end year. Just cause you don't doesn't mean anyone else doesn't.

doubtful. it's got me considering getting it on both xbox and PC. non-gamer mates will play on xbox and PC i'll actually be able to enjoy the arcade shooter. it's doubtful i'd get it on PC but definitely considering it.

I forgot about all the college kids. When living on campus bandwidth is f*****g expensive so you dont play online, instead you play LAN.

It is amusing though to see them unravelling, piece by piece, all the decisions they made regarding multiplayer in MW2, especially considering at the time they kept going on and on about this it was the best way to do it and the best way for gamers and they're looking forward to the future and all that crap.

Two different games Hurricane. BF3 is more your somewhat little realistic, less arcade style shooter. COD is just full blown arcade shooting, with quick scopezzz.

I've noticed that that COD4 is popular with the lanners, possibly because it's the only Modern Warfare game that had lan support (I think MW2 could be cracked or whatever but yea, still dumb)

Good news I guess, but I've still lost interest in the series. Battlefield 3 looks so much fresher.

I still can't believe BF3 will be online only :(

Their strategy seems to have switched over the last few months. They know they cannot take on BF3 gameplay wise so the are giving us all the features we always want but have been getting less and less for various non-gaming reasons.

Yeah, very interesting, and a very smart business move. If you can't improve the core, just add features.

There was a Lan in my town for a while, It was awesome. It was my first, It only went for a few more times then the admins had real life stuff to do so it stoped :(

A kick ass game that I will still buy, but disappointed that it can't support the basics.
