Thanks to a timely Tweet from Infinity Ward's Creative Strategist, Robert Bowling, we can reveal to you that the first proper trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is inbound today, and will be live on AusGamers early this afternoon some time.

In another Tweet answering a question from a fan regarding the tech behind the game, Bowling had this to say:
We haven't gone into detail on the engine yet but we've moved beyond the MW2 engine and added a lot of cool stuff for #MW3.
Speculation is running wild, and our lips are sealed, but it makes sense given the IW guys have been working with Sledgehammer Games, which is headed by ex-Visceral boss, Glen Schofield, and that team's Dead Space game engine was in-house and very advanced, so he and Sledgehammer have definitely brought experience to the table.

Stay tuned for the Modern Warfare 3 trailer later today, and any other news coming out of E3, right here on AusGamers.

UPDATE: The official YouTube channel for Call of Duty has gone live and now so have we. Check out the embed below or click here for the 720p version.

Actually, there's more news attached regarding the new game engine... we just thought we'd get everyone primed for the trailer coming in as well - it's airing here in the US during the NBA Play-Offs, so once it's aired here on TV, other sites (such as us) can run it

Bahaha, bulls*** on new engine. From the leaked sources, it looks exactly like MW2. Doubt they'd change their engine much, it's just easy for them to re-skin s*** and pump out crap.

Still does. And the destruction looks scripted. No one can do destruction quite like Red Faction...

Hoping they can give us something new in multiplayer. SP still looks the same as MW2.

Looks like it'll be 90% scripted scenes with some interactive bits in the middle as usual.

Could be an alright single player game. Still can't believe Modern Warfare 2 is f*****g $89.99 on Steam. WTF? I wan't to play it but I'm not spending that much on it.

More of the same yawn a thon... you've seen one Modern Warfare you've seen em all. That engine needs to be put to bed, it's old and lame... dig a hole and bury it

I think you're all going to find Battlefield 3 following a very, very similar line in the way of heavily scripted events and massive set-pieces for their single-player campaign. And while it does look better, DICE are attempting to tap this market, not break it. I think both games will be more similar than you think - where they'll differ is in MP

To me, Modern Warfare is like the game equivalent of a Michael Bay film. I'm not really expecting it to be the greatest game, have the greatest story, or the most innovative gameplay, but I expect it will be entertaining and lots of s*** will blow up in spectacular ways and I'll have fun watching it blow up or being the cause of the aforementioned explosions.

I dunno if I can really justify spending $90 though for another 5 hour singleplayer campaign though, no matter how action packed it is, cos I know I probably wont even touch the multiplayer with BF3 out :(

True Steve, but at least in BF3's singleplayer, the destruction isn't just a pillar that doesn't even bend the train, but merely pops and disappears.

Since when did anyone here care about single player? Only reason I play these games is for the multiplayer. Playing single player against AI is as boring as bat s***.

$120 map pack for Black Ops more like it.
Looks like they have just slapped together offcuts of storyline that didn't make it into the previous games.
