As happens with most phenomenons, Minecraft has shed its PC-only skin of late to test elsewhere waters, arriving on both iOS devices and the Xbox 360.

It can be said that this exploration of the game's marketable legs is wrong for all the reasons Minecraft became a phenomenom in the first place: freedom. There's very little freedom for the game on iOS, and its limited outlook negates the community concept that has created such things as MineCon and beyond. But with the Xbox 360 version, it seems like Mojang might have had the right idea in offering something of a gateway drug to the PC game proper, or at least utilised the console platform as an exploration for further development. Either way, it looks like it was a success, as Jickle explores in today's review.

1600 Microsoft Points. About AU$26 at current rates, which is a bit steep imo.
