Which basically sums up the announcement, as all we really know at this stage is that it will let everyone's Mii communicate with other Miis in "a welcoming social environment, answering questions and sharing information to discover more about each other." Sounds a little bit like the Street Pass thing for the Nintendo 3DS. But as this will be free to play on existing smartphone devices, you can be sure that this is a huge move for Nintendo.

As the first release for the company's partnership with Japanese mobile giant DeNa, Miitomo will be the out sometime in March 2016, with a further four titles expected before March 2017. Perhaps the biggest news to come from the announcement though, which was made earlier today, is that Miitomo will be the first title to make full use of the company's new My Nintendo system. A new account system that will connect all Nintendo users to their devices and wider community in a fashion that is long overdue for the company -- connecting PCs, tablets, smartphones, and Nintendo hardware.
