With Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard currently under review by several countries and firms one of the big questions surrounding the deal surrounds the future of Call of Duty. Which is still one of the biggest franchises in gaming. In a new statement provided to The Verge, Head of Xbox Phil Spencer reveals that Call of Duty on PlayStation will be a thing for the foreseeable future.

“In January, we provided a signed agreement to Sony to guarantee Call of Duty on PlayStation, with feature and content parity, for at least several more years beyond the current Sony contract, an offer that goes well beyond typical gaming industry agreements,” Phil Spencer wrote. A statement that is clear and to the point, so much so that it also doubles as a response to the recent backlash the company has received on the deal that expressed concerns about competition and Call of Duty becoming an Xbox-only franchise.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is the new CoD jam coming this year, where it will hit PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. Head here for all the info on what this new entry brings to the table.
