Microsoft has revealed that for the first time in Australia the public will be able to gain hands-on time with the upcoming Xbox One console at EB Games Expo 2013. Microsoft announced the news during the Friday Xbox One presentation at PAX Australia, which saw the first reveal of the console on Australian soil.
Manager of Brand Engagement and Events, Debra McGrath, said, “We are thrilled that EB Games and Microsoft are combining forces to give gamers a chance to get hands-on with the Xbox One at this year’s EB Expo. We hope that this glimpse of the future is as exciting to the gaming public as it is to us. We can’t give away too much just yet, but watch this space for more huge announcements in the coming weeks.”
According to Microsoft, approximately 100 consoles will be available to the public at the EB Games Expo, allowing the public to gain hands-on time with the next-gen hardware. The PAX Australia presentation featured a look at the Kinect 2.0 and on-stage demos, including Ryse, Battlefield 4 and Killer Instinct.

Currently PAX Australia is underway on its last day of the now annual event, having been quite successful with a large number of gaming fans turning up for the three-day event. The AusGamers team was on hand during the three days so stay tuned for more details on what we found interesting and of course a number of exclusive interviews.

The EB Games Expo 2013 will take place at the Sydney Showgrounds, Sydney, Australia from Oct. 4-6, 2013. Tickets are still available for purchase which you find over here.

trillion, it's NOT the west, but (normal) people are so "meh" about the announcement that they've had to specifically go out and import a bunch of tumbleweed just for occasions such as this.

they couldn't even produce the display only xbone at PAX Aus. how are they going to cope with 100 playable ones?

The amount of playable games at PAX was a little disappointing, I think Nintendo had the best booth in this regard. They had Pikmin 3, Super Mario 3D World Land Super for Wii U, Zelda Wind Waker HD, Mario and Luigi Dream Team & the new Zelda game for the DS.

Sony and Microsoft were just not there. There were some cool indie games though, but most of the bigger booths, were for games that were already out. LoL and World of Tanks.

Rav what do you mean they couldn't produce the display? I saw it up close in its sectioned off cube and it looked quite nice, much smaller than I thought it would be. Definitely grabbing one in the second batch (or maybe first if there are any left) after seeing the presentation on Friday.

Yeah the presentation actually impressed me. I was leaning towards a PS4, but it only seems iterative now, where as the XBox actually seems somewhat innovative. The Kinect looked impressive, I can see some huge potential for fighting and fitness games. I imagine a scenario where I wake up and use the kinect like my personal trainer ala Ready Player One. And Rise seemed to be mechanically crap, but visually impressive. However, if I was doing those moves with the kinect it could be fun. I will wait though to see how much of it is hype, and how much actually comes into practice. The first kinect promised much, but delivered little. @Toxus I didn't get any arrogant prick vibe from what they showed, if anything that vibe is only coming from PS fanboys who aren't waiting to see both the consoles to make an informed decision. Play Station couldn't even bother coming to PAX, which seems somewhat more arrogant. That being said, Nintendo had the best booth by far, fun and relaxed.

I dunno about the XBox, but it seems a bit dodgy to use their PAX presentation to shill for the EB Games Expo

well i saw a few articles the other day making fun of the fact that they had an empty glass box on display. i guess they eventually got a xbone to put inside it.

It was empty for the first few hours (possibly the first day?) of the event. I have no f*****g idea how Microsoft let that happen; it looked ludicrous especially because they had really bright spots on their whole (totally empty) booth.

There is also the price difference. It isn't as big compared to USA, where they have $100 difference while we only have $50 difference.
