In a blog post published on the official Xbox website, Microsoft's PR honcho Major Nelson has revealed several new details regarding its upcoming console and accessories as they show off an unboxing of the Xbox One Day One Edition, reportedly one of 20 final-spec Xbox Ones in the world so far.
Interestingly the most notable discovery is the inclusion of the Xbox One Chat Headset, said to be included in both the Day One Edition and the standard edition. Previously Microsoft had stated (via IGN) that all consoles would not be gaining any headset bundled with the console, instead pointing to the Kinect as a microphone source.
Lisa Gurry, Editor of Xbox Wire explained that the chat headset offers "3x the sampling rate of the Xbox 360. The quality of the Xbox One Chat Headset speaker and microphone have been upgraded to take advantage of the much improved audio quality. It’s also super lightweight-only 44g-with a padded earpiece that can be worn on either your left or right ear, and a bendable, rotating mic boom. You can control mute and volume without taking your hands off the controller."
Those who have pre-order the console in time to gain the Day One Edition will find included is a specially branded DAY ONE 2013 controller with chrome D-pad, and a Day One digital achievement. According to Microsoft the new controller offers over 40 design improvements, including a "redesigned D-pad for accuracy, redesigned thumb sticks for better grip and control, new menu and view buttons, redesigned triggers and bumpers for accuracy and comfort, as well as exclusive impulse triggers for haptic feedback."
Check out the video featuring the smooth-talking Major Nelson as he unboxes the Day One Edition, detailing all the features that the box will deliver to you in November. You can also check out three other short videos offering close ups of the peripherals to tantalise your taste buds.
Pfft this is a terrible unboxing! No overhead cam showing the contents layout, no mention of the stock of the card used for the box... no-one really cares about the contents after it's been unboxed in an unboxing! Amateurs!
