Okay, so the Windows Store hasn't been great as a platform to game on PC -- something that has been improving pretty steadily though thanks to the Xbox App and the arrival of Xbox Game Pass. With the recent Age of Empires IV reveal, and word that Halo Infinite will support cross-play and cross-progression between PC and Xbox consoles, Microsoft is all about renewing its PC vows.

With a detailed post from Matt Booty, Head of Xbox Game Studios, outlining its efforts to bring the PC into the Xbox ecosystem. Which as time goes on, and as first-party titles also make their way to PC on day-one, it's beginning to feel like exactly that. In that Xbox covers consoles, PCs, and of course the cloud. On the the Halo Infinite front Matt notes that multiplayer cross-play and cross-progression covers PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S|X.

Oh and the PC version will support ultrawide displays, advanced graphics options, and the ability to remap and adjust input. Which puts the next installment in Microsoft's flagship series in line with the recent PC debut of Halo: The Master Chief Collection -- which has seen over 10-million players jump into the formidable shoes of the ol' Master Chief.

Perhaps the biggest news comes in the form of the company not only sticking with the Windows Store (or Microsoft Store as it's being called here) and revenue share for developers and publishers incresing to 88% from 70% -- something that will kick in on August 1. Which means studios will make more money off of sales here than on competing services like Steam. The 88% actually puts the revenue share in line with the Epic Games Store -- so who knows, we might end up seeing more PC games appear exclusively on the PC Xbox App in the future.

All in all this is great stuff. But reall, we want to see Microsoft continue to invest in the overall speed, stability, and quality of the Xbox App and its social features on PC -- including the not that great storefront. Also, adding things like being able to manage your installations or even back them up -- would be awesome to see.
