Where for a monthly fee you get an Xbox One console, in addition to access to both Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass. Setup in the same way as a phone contract, monthly payments are made over the course of 24-months where at the end you get to keep the console. The offer is only available via Microsoft Stores within the U.S. but is the sort of service we expect to make its way here.

The plans encompass both the Xbox One S and the Xbox One, starting at $21.99 per month for the S and $34.99 per month for the X. In terms of the numbers, sans any discounts for both Xbox Live or Game Pass subscriptions, the overall costs across the two-year plans are mostly fair and in-line with the RRP values of the contents.

But, as a bundle without a sizable discount we're thinking that Microsoft are simply testing the waters with service. And launching it now means that once the next Xbox makes it to market subscribers will probably be given the option to trade-up for the new system.
