Going from over 170GB down to the more manageable 83GB, with the developers at Asobo noting that is has "performed some optimisation". And how! As per our in-depth chat with Jorg Neuman, Head of Microsoft Flight Simulator, from earlier this year, when discussing the upcoming Xbox Series X version, he noted “We literally went through every model, we looked at every buffer and it was shocking how much memory we found."

No doubt this new PC update was born from those optimisations made for the console launch -- which is happening sometime in the next couple of months.

The patch notes for the 1.16.2.0 update are quite extensive, covering things like reduced weather bandwidth alongside many other fixes to navigation and planes.
