Various international press outlets have reported receiving invitations to Microsoft's long-expected next generation Xbox reveal event, and word of the conference has been confirmed by Xbox community mouth-piece Larry "Major Nelson" Hyrb.
On Tuesday May 21st, we’ll mark the beginning of a new generation of games, TV and entertainment. On that day, we’ll be holding a special press event on the Xbox campus and we invite you to join us via the live global stream that will be available on Xbox.com, Xbox LIVE and broadcast on Spike TV if you are in the US or Canada.

On that day, we’ll share our vision for Xbox, and give you a real taste of the future. Then, 19-days later at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles, we’ll continue the conversation and showcase our full lineup of blockbuster games.

We are thrilled to pull back the curtain and reveal what we’ve been working on.

A New Generation Revealed
Xbox Campus, Redmond WA
Tuesday, May 21st @ 1p ET/10a PT/17:00 GMT
Unfortunately for Australians, the US morning event time works out to be 3am AEST on Wednesday May 22 for us, so you'll have to get up early (or stay up late) if you want to catch the live stream on xbox.com, but full video of the event should still be available directly afterward, and we'll be sure to cover the highlights for you all anyway.

Is there any hope its hardware specs won't be completely underwhelming?

They will be.

Also Starcraft wont be on console so no point in buying them.

On the bright side, at least I won't have to upgrade my PC for about two years.

On the s***-smeared side though I was really looking forward to seeing how the next-gen consoles improved graphical fidelity. One thing that brings hope is that the PS4 has a boatload of RAM. Assuming the Xbox 2 will have about the same, hopefully this will allow for some truly next-gen open world games. I mean, the PS3 only had 256Mb of system RAM and 256Mb of video RAM which is a joke really. The PS4 has 8gig of RAM which should be more than enough to run any open world game.

I guess the best I can hope for are developers willing to release high-def texture packs or versions of games specially designed to run on high-end PCs (highly unlikely).
