Microsoft has announced Australia retail price drops on their Xbox 360 and Kinect products, set to take affect on October 4th 2012. The changes will drop the 250GB HDD Xbox 360 console down a significant AU$150 to AU$299, and the 4GB HDD Xbox 360 with Kinect bundle down AU$100, also to AU$299.
Here's the brief:
- Kinect Sensor, $149 (save $50)
- 4GB Xbox 360, $199 (save $50)
- 4GB Xbox 360 with Kinect**, $299 (save $100)
- 250GB Xbox 360 $299 (Save $150)
- Limited edition consoles $399 (save $50)***
Microsoft notes that the $399 limited edition price point refers to existing limited edition consoles, and upcoming ones, such as the Limited Edition Halo 4 console.
Most interestingly, these price movements bring the Australian RRP's into line with (ahead of, once you factor exchange rates) some of the current North American price points for Xbox hardware (the Kinect sensor recently dropped $50 lower there though).
However, we imagine this means our friends across the Pacific are likely due for a further drop of their own in time for the holiday sales, and the Halo 4 launch. Perhaps, holding off due to their comfortable number one spot on the US sales charts for the last several months.
