So not only do you have to pay a monthly (or yearly) xbox live gold subscription, but also your ISP subscription, and a foxtel on 360 subscription. Why the hell not just get standalone foxtel?

Most xbox owners would have internet access and a gold sub anyway....so shelling out for this still works out cheaper than standalone Foxtel (as long as you dont really care about most of the content being on-demand content)

Except, a kid can't be off in his room playing his xbox while you watch the foxtel. Works great if your household revolves around only you.

Not everyone can get Foxtel through the traditional method.

It's not the full channel set of the normal Foxtel, for some reason. Back when I was considering getting it there was only like 4 channels so they are improving but I don't think it's very good cost comparison wise at the moment considering just how few channels you get.

Pretty sure Telstra are banking on foxtel to be their big draw card when the NBN goes through so I expect more channels will continue to be added until there is no difference.

Don't most people get their tv "on demand" from the internet these days? I don't really see the point in pay-tv any more. Especially given that it's full of ads too.

at this stage pricing seems too much for what you get. at this stage proxying netflix is still the best option for console owners. i dont mind the $20 base pack but the bolt ons push it too high for what it is. drop them to 5-6 each then we will talk foxtel...
