To celebrate Atari's 40 year anniversary and also the launch of Internet Explorer 10, the team at Microsoft and Atari have today announced a new online gaming porthole called Atari Arcade. The collection of titles from Atari have been re-imagined in HTML5 with a set of new graphics and gameplay and also integration with social networks.
The browser-based arcade is a next-gen collection of Atari's classic games - all reimagined in HTML5 with fresh graphics, gameplay and integration with Facebook and Twitter. Legendary games like Pong, Lunar Lander, Missile Command, Combat, Centipede, and loads more have all been developed with new graphics and gameplay features to take you back to joy-stick heaven.

Atari Arcade will let you go head-to-head with your mates in real-time battles in games like Breakout and Asteroids to complete for that must have top possie on the leader board.
Also on offer is a Atari Arcade development kit that is free to use and allows you to build games for the online network. If Internet Explorer isn't your kind of thing then don't worry, as it seems the games can be played in Chrome and Firefox, however apparently ad-supported versions.
