Metroid Dread is a brand-new side-scrolling Metroid coming to Nintendo Switch on October 8, 2021 - and today we've got a new trailer from Nintendo showcasing some of the new moves in Samus Aran's arsenal. Plus, some trusty Morph Ball action.
Check it out.
A mysterious transmission draws bounty hunter Samus Aran to planet ZDR, where she soon learns this remote planet has been overrun by vicious alien lifeforms and murderous robots called E.M.M.I.
Hunt and be hunted as you make your way through a deadly world in Samus’ most intense adventure yet—and the long-awaited next entry in the 2D Metroid saga.
The interesting hook with this one (besides being a brand-new 2D Metroid-style adventure) is the fact that Samus will be hunted throughout by robotic E.M.M.I. -- which should add a sense of, well, dread. Ahem. This is the first classic Metroid since Metroid Fusion on the GBA in 2004 -- and with the 2.5D visuals the movement here looks to be more fluid. Not to mention a lot more advanced.
