Tis the season once more, and as is usually the done thing this time of year, things will be a bit quieter on the site for the next couple of weeks as we enjoy a bit of the Australian summer and ring in another new year.
We've had another terrific twelve months here at AusGamers in 2012, continuing to expand the scope our reviews coverage, bringing back more previews of the hottest upcoming games than ever before, and delving into some in-depth features on a wide variety of gaming-related topics --all aspects we hope to continue building on in 2013.
Fun fact: Steve has conducted over 30 video interviews this year, and even more text-only q&a's, with highlights including Irrational Games'
Ken Levine, Crytek's
Cevat Yerli, Arkane Studio's
Harvey Smith, Blizzard's
Jay Wilson, and Treyarch's
Mark Lamia.
For those wading through the holiday season sales for new games, we have a
solid year's worth of reviews written by our experienced contributors to help you decide.
On behalf of all of us here at AusGamers and Mammoth Media, we hope that you have a very merry Christmas/xmas/festivus/etc, a happy new year, and a safe and pleasant holiday period in general.

Except for "Christ."
Merry Christmas to all!
Posted 07:43am 23/12/12
Not really. Christ had nothing to do with the Yule season, nor the festival of Saturnalia, winter soltice etc. Like most other "christian" holidays (easter for instance) they were nothing but co-opted pagan festivals to try and convert non christians at the time.
Luke 2:8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
Shepard's don't generally spend winter out in their fields watching over sheep. That is usually a autumn, summer or spring thing. And seeing christmas in the northern hemisphere is in the middle of winter (3-4 days after the solstice in fact) they wouldn't have been out checking on them.

It was funny watching the christmas carols on TV when one of the singers tried to rile up the crowd by yelling "hey everybody who loves jesus?" Where did he think he was, Alabama?

maybe your posts just got nuked cos you're a huge douchebag!
Posted 12:07pm 01/1/13
you came in saying that because we call it christmas, that we should look to the past and remember it is all about jesus
however, you dont even know the meaning of xmas, it has little to do with christ, infact the holiday has been around in some form for a very long time before christains wrote on paper,
study roman times, and get a clue,
