With Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond being developed by Respawn it's set to release exclusively on the Oculus platform (covering the Oculus Quest and Oculus Rift S) "This Holiday". As a VR-title in the long-running World War II-set series this latest Medal of Honor continues the series' trend of cinematic spectacle and history.

Charge into history in Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond’s thrilling single-player campaign. As an agent of the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) in war-torn Europe, players will take part in historic events on land, air, and sea; sabotaging Nazi bases, subverting enemy plans, and aiding the French Resistance.

It's impressive, with a number of locations covering land, sea, and air missions. Although very cinematic in its presentation (at least in trailer form) game director Peter Hirschmann notes that the aim is "to be grounded and emotionally authentic, to be as true as we can to the experiences of people that fought through it and lived through it".

As the director of the 1999 original Peter adds that real stories helped inspire the team and the direction of the game. "We’ve been able to talk to people that lived through it, from all different walks, French Resistance, on Omaha Beach at D-Day...” to "create a story that taps into those truths, inspired by what they went through."
