Piranha Games has released another new trailer for their upcoming multiplayer game MechWarrior Online, providing a showcase of one of the game's Inner Sphere maps. Titled Caustic Valley, the gameplay demonstration discusses the various ways in which the environmental temperatures can affect and influence players.
Caustic Valley (aka CMO 26) is a mineral rich, hazy and brutally hot valley environment that will affect how your mech disperses heat, drastically affecting your gameplay and strategy – especially those with heavier, hotter mechs.

Tips and tricks are sprinkled in this MechWarrior Online environment reveal, so pay close attention to which weapons are recommended for victory.
Watch the trailer below, or click here for the HD video page.

MechWarrior Online is expected to launch for PC on August 7th. Prospective players can suit up for "founders Program" closed beta access over on mwomercs.com.

the old mechwarrior games already had this... ie if you were playing on dustbowl you would overheat faster than you would on tundra.

And you could run your mech into water to cool off faster. Can't remember if snow maps had any effect but I'd guess so.

I'm hoping they mean that different areas on the map have different temperatures.
So lighter mechs could run though the Vally of Uberheat and ambush the heavier mechs that must take the long way around. Only some mad man has decked out his Heavy mech with heaps of heat sinks and whatnot and ambushes the little guys in the Valley of Uberheat.
