Fleshing out the already promising looking 2012 release calendar, Rockstar has announced the next installment in the Max Payne franchise,
Max Payne 3, will arrive for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 some time around March.
Multiplayer has also been announced for the game, with a game mode that features dynamically changing maps and progression based on how the game is being played. There will also be all of the obligatory MP game modes we've come to expect, but when you look at things like the lobby system in Red Dead Redemption's multiplayer, claims of a dynamically shifting multiplayer mode based on user-interactivity start to sound tantalising.
"Max Payne 3 gave us an amazing creative opportunity to evolve one of our most iconic characters," said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games, via press release. "We're excited to show fans a modern version of Max that pulls them back into his dark and twisted story."
According to other Max details, the game will utilise the same Natural Motion character animation and physics system GTA 4 and RDR used, as well as a new version of Rockstar's Advanced Game Engine, so things are actually looking up for the series.
Stay tuned for more details as we have them.
