When it comes to the upcoming remastered trilogy release that is the Mass Effect Legendary Edition, it's safe to say that for fans of the series -- the hype is real. With remastered visuals and several gameplay updates and improvements coming, BioWare has release a new comparison trailer -- in sweet 4K -- that showcases the new look and feel.

And with everything from character models to textures, lighting, and other modern Effect(s) -- it's a Mass-ive improvement. Ahem. Check it out.

BioWare has also posted an in-depth Visual Improvements feature you can read here, which outlines the process taken to remaster the trilogy. Utilising an updated version of the game's Unreal Engine 3, BioWare details how it took nearly 30,000 textures and had those updated for 4K. From there modern visual effects were added -- all with an eye to maintaining consistency across the entire trilogy. The team also went back to the original concept art for the many worlds to bring them closer to the original artistic intent.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition is Out May 14, 2021 for PC, PS4, Xbox One, with support for PS5 and Xbox Series X and S.
