Bioware has today announced a release date for their upcoming DLC that will hopefully tie up any loose knots in their space RPG, Mass Effect 3. While a large pack of gamers were quite upset at the original endings that were featured, Bioware has taken it upon themselves to evolve the storyline beyond its original state, and better explain what exactly happened and why.
The Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut is a downloadable content pack that will expand upon the events at the end of Mass Effect 3. Through additional cinematic sequences and epilogue scenes, the Extended Cut will include deeper insight to Commander Shepard’s journey based on player choices during the war against the Reapers.
The DLC will be free to PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 gamers, with the new content weighing in at a large 1.9 gigabytes so hopefully it contains a good amount of story.

The DLC will be available on June 26th and you can check out the official website which tells you a bit more about what to expect including what save game you will need before playing.

To experience the Extended Cut, load a save game from before the attack on the Cerberus Base and play through to the end of the game. The Extended Cut endings will differ depending on choices made throughout the Mass Effect series, so multiple playthroughs with a variety of different decisions will be required to experience the variety of possibilities offered by the new content.

S***, hope I have a save game from that far back

Yeah i don't really want to play through again. Game is very linear, not like ME2 which was alot better.

We'll see if this explains anything. 1.9 gb seems to indicate there is variety to the ending... we'll see.

Khel - if you finished the game it dumps you back in the Normandy before you it the Cerberus base. If you saved after finishing the credits thats where your game begins again.

June 26. We will be slightly less confused and slightly more annoyed. I hope this does help ME3 but I still feel the ending needs to be re-written to make more sense right off the bat and to have our actions make some sort of difference, even just a little bit. It will never happen though. I fear the ending will leave a sour taste in what has been a great series of games.

1.9gb could just be 5 minutes of HD movies in all the languages...

Guess I'll have to get my Galactic Readiness full again. I don't really have any interest in multiplayer anymore though. :(

I'm going to see how my ending works out as a full Paragon mail Shepard and then I'll go back to ME2 and play as a Female Renegade and see how it differs.

Mosfx - Do you have the pc version? If so - http://www.masseffect2saves.com/

You can find a bunch of saves for the PC version here from what sex you are, who you romanced, class etc.

Could save you a bit of time if you want to save time that is.

I'm happy to help out if you are on PC. I don't mind the multiplayer game and have a couple of high level characters that can help you out if you want.

No Mordecai I picked it up on Xbox as I already had ME 1 & 2 for that format, I haven't looked into it yet but someone told me I can edit an Xbox save via a USB and load the game from that.

It's on Origin already. It's not an automatic update, it's in game add-ons with the other DLC.

Awesome, Mass Effect no longer loads on my PC. I click play in Origin, it appears on the taskbar for a few seconds, then closes without an error. Repairing didn't fix it.

Thanks EA.
