Evolve is a polarising game at the moment -- so much so our promised review is still only three-quarters done because the game's full potential just hasn't been put on the table yet (we're thinking post-mortem write-up at this stage). But as promised the team at Turtle Rock Studios is delivering on post-release content, and the first major drop coming this March 31 is looking very big.

A new monster named Behemoth will be made available, as well a new group of hunters and two new maps.
Evolve’s new Monster and Hunters are unique in appearance and abilities. Behemoth is a tank of a Monster that becomes a giant, destructive boulder and rolls through the environment for quick traversal. Behemoth is free for those who pre-ordered Evolve from participating retailers as part of the Monster Expansion Pack, and is available separately for $22.95. For complete details on Behemoth, visit: this link here.

Four new Hunters also join the Evolve lineup: Torvald, a cyborg Assault character with a mortar cannon for an arm; Crow, a Trapper with a pet Batray for tracking Monsters; Slim, a genetically modified combat Medic; and Sunny, a Support character equipped with a mininuke grenade launcher. Each new Hunter expands the Evolve experience with new weapons, equipment, and abilities. The four Hunters are available as part of the Evolve Hunting Season Pass along with three Monster skins** for $33.45. Each Hunter can also be purchased separately for $11.25. For complete details on these four new Hunters, visit: this link here.

Two new maps bring additional depth and replayability to the entire Evolve community free of charge. The Broken Hill Mine and Broken Hill Foundry maps introduce two distinct environments and add exciting new campaign effects to Evacuation, a unique experience that combines the full array of maps, modes, Hunters, and Monsters into a single dynamic campaign, offering near-limitless variety. The free Broken Hill Mine and Broken Hill Foundry maps will be available first for Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, on March 31, 2015, and will be available for Windows PC and PlayStation®4 system on April 30, 2015. For complete details on these new maps, visit: this link here.
Getting the new maps for free is obviously a nice bonus and also doesn't lock anyone out of the base game, but you're effectively paying more than $50 for content for a game that's only been out a short while, though a lot of work has clearly gone into the add-on, it's definitely a talking point.

If you're still playing Evolve, will you be picking this stuff up come March 31?

Check out a batch of new screens for the content below.

$22.95 just for one new character? What s*** are they smoking, games like Skyrim or Fallout 3 did full expansions for that cost. What a d*** move.

Peoples concern about this bollocks DLC system seem accurate. Also saying 2 maps being free is a nice bonus speaks volumes about the games industry at the moment. Maps should always be free DLC, otherwise you split the playerbase.

Glad I dodged this bullet.

Yeah that monster pricing is ridiculous. The game is quite "dead" on PC, with matchmaking taking forever if I try to go with randoms. Sadly this looks like a LAN game only from here on out, which is what me and my friends originally bought it for but I feel sorry for those who don't happen to have a gaming group or friends interested.

Called it during the beta this would flop the game play just didn't work for me and seems I wasn't alone in thinking that, which was a real shame I loved l4d 1 and 2.

However I would be pretty pissed off with this DLC pricing if it had of been good so I guess thats a win :)

Its a good thing I like playing with bots. I have not played in a couple of weeks and when i did, I only played Online once. Then I got side tracked with War Thunder again.

I assume the publisher sets the price for the DLC and game? They must be the ones smoking crack. They probably charge that much to fund their habit.

writing was all over the wall on this one. shame such greedy pricing ruined a promising game. heard it had a high budget too, will be interesting to see what becomes of the devs.

It's a pity that the publisher has set the prices on the high side. Underneath it is what I think is a pretty great game. In my view worth a try if you can get it on sale (which it is on Steam atm).

Kinda sad no one plays PC (sub 1000 players at one point) but hey they only blame themselves.

Most fun I've had with a game in ages :( Like erol I have 3-4 friends to play with at least.

I'm still not entirely sure I'd pay $22.95 for the entire game. That's just insane.
