Maneater, as per our review from earlier this year, puts you in the role of a killer shark as you evolve and chomp your way through various waterways populated by meat-bags. Humies. And now, as we're on the cusp of ushering a new generation of home consoles, develoepr Tripwire Interactive is set to evolve the game itself with some next-gen goodness.

Native 4K support with game set to run at 60fps, plus ray-tracing, new lighting effects, and support for the PlayStation 5 DualSense controller to put players "in control of the apex predator of the sea like never before". The free Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 update is expected to drop alongside the consoles in November. November 10 for the Xbox Series X and November 12 for the PlayStation 5.

“The Tripwire team has been overwhelmed by the great reception Maneater received since it launched earlier this year, and we can’t wait for players to experience the thrill of playing as a deadly shark in all of her powerful glory on next-gen consoles,” said John Gibson, CEO of Tripwire Interactive. “With next-gen Maneater has never looked better with amazing ray traced water and smooth 4k 60FPS gameplay, but the adventures won’t stop there, as fans can expect even more exciting news about the future of Maneater soon."

Both Tripwire Interactive and its publishing partner Deep Silver are reporting that since launching on PC and current gen consoles Maneater has sold over one million copies. The studio also notes that these next-gen updates will arrive on PC sometime early 2021. The studio is set to outline exactly what the update will include in the coming weeks, including what form of ray-tracing currently being implemented.

In a final bit of Maneater news we should probably expect to see an expansion or some form of DLC get an announcement soon too -- maybe a multiplayer kill fest. To ramp up the feeding.
