Promotional short films using live actors might not be great representations of the games they're promoting, but some of the recent ones have been quite cool, so we're happy for game publishers to continue the increasing trend of commissioning them for their big budget games.

One recent effort that left a heavy impression was THQ's haunting "Enter the Metro" trailer for the upcoming post-apocalyptic survival FPS Metro: Last Light.

For those that missed it, you can catch the original Enter the Metro trailer here in our video library, but today we also have a new behind the scenes look at how the live action short was created.

It's an interesting look at just how much thought and effort (and toughing it out in frozen Moscow) goes into creating these little mini movies. Check it out below (or here for the HD page).

Metro: Last Light is due on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in early 2013.
