Expected to go live overnight, it looks like the gameplay debut for 2K and Hangar 13's built from the ground-up remake of the 2002 original crime epic has been put up a little early - with IGN debuting the 14-minute presentation today. Hangar 13's chief creative officer Haden Blackman is on hand to talk about what we see, which includes insight into the remake's development and an in-depth look at a mission out in the country.
One that will no doubt be familiar to fans of the 2002 classic. Oh, and it goes without saying that this remake looks incredible, building off the impressive tech seen in Mafia III.
From this we can see that this remake is a loving recreation of the original with modern touches and expanded cinematic ambition. In fact with the original feeling like gaming's first mob epic along the lines of Goodfellas and The Godfather, it's awesome to see that vision remade with all the advancements that come from development in 2020. Like motion capture, facial capture, advanced lighting, and increased detail. Plus, in the video we learn that the team at Hangar includes veterans that worked on the original in addition to Mafia II and Mafia III.
Mafia: Definitive Edition is out September 25 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Stay tuned to AusGamers as we'll be bringing a lot more from the Mafia remake in the coming days.
