Path of Exile, the popular PC action-RPG is branching out this year with an Xbox One release. From Auckland-based Grinding Gear Games, Path of Exile made its debut on PC in 2013, where it quickly gained a loyal following. In the subsequent years its fans have been treated to several expansions and additional content. And mostly, for free. The Xbox One version of the game will be inline with the upcoming massive 3.0.0 expansion, that includes the long-awaited Act V.
"For three years, PC players have enjoyed Path of Exile's visceral combat, deep character customization and addictive item hunt," said Chris Wilson, co-founder of Grinding Gear Games. "We have spent over a year adapting Path of Exile specifically to the Xbox One, creating an experience equivalent to playing with mouse and keyboard on PC."
Sounds awesome. And looks it too.
Old-school Diablo fans (that also own an Xbox One) rejoice!
@Steve Yes. I have never played Diablo games before this but I liked it. It is mostly what I have been playing the past 2 weeks.
What I like: - Graphics are nice for what it is. - Lots of loot. - Interesting character classes and skill tree/map thing. - It's pretty much single player with some multiplayer attached. Don't have to group up for anything (at least at my level and as far as I know) - Account wide stash (bank to put your loot and s*** in) - 8gb download or so.
What I don't like: - Microtransactions (It's mostly cosmetic but I still don't like it) - No character customisation ( I know it's an above view but I would still like to change my character's looks) - Not sure about anyone else but it runs good but the game gets choppy sometimes. I think it is server related. It's annoying. - No currency in the game. No gold, silver or copper. It's a bit odd.
Overall I do recommend it. If you like RPG type things, it should be good for you. If you have a go at it, let me know.
While you don't need to group, its a damn sight more fun if you do. You will get better loot if the bigger the group.
Its got a decent learning curve if you want to do the end game, you can make a character useless if you build it wrong.
One slightly unusual aspect is that the leagues only last about 3 months, then a new one comes out. These leagues have all the new content most of which gets rolled into the main league when it ends.
