This is one for those out there that mod Skyrim. And you'd be a fool not to. Not that the core game is in anyway bad, mods simply take a great thing and make it, err, greater. Like the SkyUI mod for PC, which takes the minimal but clunky UI and turns it into an intuitive and detailed alternative. It's what you would call an essential mod. Like a few other mods though, it required a thing called the Skyrim Script Extender to work -- which to this day doesn't support the recent Skyrim Special Edition re-release. But good news! A version should be compatible in the coming months.

The team behind the development of the Skyrim Script Extender has announced that a new Special Edition ready version of is being worked on, with a beta version expected mid-March.

And bring this baby back.

This will hopefully bring the Special Edition on par with vanilla Skyrim in terms of mod potential.

@smegger, you can use an old version of SkyUI (2.2, I think) that doesn't require SKSE.
It doesn't have all the bells and whistles, but it's still better than the default menu system.
