It's that thing we've all done on more than one occasion - sit back, look at our desk and wonder - would a 55-inch LG OLED fit? with the answer ranging from probably not to maybe to if I move this then barely. Anyway, the good news is that the 48-inch LG CX 4K OLED TV is making its way to our shores.

No price has been set, but we do know that a release is planned for September.

LG are currently letting you express interest in its eventual release.

Back when it was announced at CES earlier this year we called it "a dream display for those with high-end NVIDIA GeForce RTX cards". As an owner of a high-end NVIDIA GeForce RTX card it was a dream that was subsequently crushed when LG Australia announced that the 48-inch LG CX 4K OLED TV wouldn't be coming to Australia.

Which was a shame because as our review of the LG CX 65-inch 4K OLED TV noted, "Playing games on a variable refresh rate G-Sync display is one of those 'once you see it you need it' affairs, where everything looks and feels smooth and crisp even when the frame-rate varies wildly or dips here and there." Especially when you pair that with the picture quality, colour accuracy, and great black-levels that are par for the course with the LG OLED range.

The news of course is that it is coming to Australia and just in time to serve as a perfect display for high-end PC and next-gen console gaming. “We first showcased the 48-inch OLED TV at CES and are excited to finally bring our premium OLED display technology to the mid-size TV market," said Tony Brown, Marketing Manager for Home Entertainment, LG Electronics Australia. “Gamers will especially gravitate towards this model as it meets the needs of both PC and console gamers.”

The LG CX range supports HDR10, Dolby Vision, and at up to 120 frames per second for 4K HDR content over the HDMI 2.1 standard.
