After being rather quiet with what to expect from the publisher and developer, Bethesda has today revealed that we can expect - for the first time ever - an E3 presence of their own at the convention in Los Angeles this year.

Details on what to expect aren't exactly clear, and probably won't be until he day of the event, but that hasn't stopped rumours flying around. One of those is a potential Fallout 4, but we could also be seeing news about a new Elder Scrolls.

What do you expect from this conference? Fallout? Doom perhaps? Something completely different? Let us know in the comments!

I'm praying for Dishonored 2 and a new Fallout, but I know in my heart it will just be Doom (or some other iD bulls***) and something from one of the other studios they publish that I have no interest in.

Fallout 4 would own me, I easily spent 200+ hours on the first one, and that was all just one playthrough.

I dunno if a new Elder Scrolls game could ever live up to Skyrim though, cos I think at least 50% of its awesomeness was due to the setting with all the nord viking s***, dragons, dovahkin, shouts, etc. Made it feel so much more epic, a new Elder Scrolls game in a new setting, I dunno, would be a tough act to follow.

fallout 4 would be cool. i spent many hours in fallout 3 & loved it. played thru twice.. once as the goodguy & once as the badguy.

i doubt they will release a new elder scrolls game anytime soon just coz there is still a lot of work being done on elder scrolls online. a bunch of new stuff is slated for release 6.

a new doom would also be cool.

It's the new setting thing that irks me. There is so much they could do with a second war between the Aldmeri Dominion and the Empire/Skyrim. Because of the ambiguity of the civil war, it was nice to have a clear-cut enemy to hate, and slaughtering those uppity pricks was amazingly satisfying. A game centered around the collapse of the White-Gold Concordat would be more than swell.

fallout 3 shipped less than 5 million copies and skyrim sold over 20 million. i know what game i would be making next.

As long as it's a RPG from the Fallout/Skyrim team I'll be happy, regardless of the setting. Anything other than this and it'll be a dark day for humanity.

Fallout: New Vegas shipped 5 million units, pretty impressive for a title not many were interested in to begin with. I reckon Fallout and Doom. No way would they push out Elder Scrolls news with ESO coming to consoles.

Every single time a new Elder Scrolls has come out people have said "I don't see how they could better this game since it's so good" and each time they do exactly that, so the idea of the next one not being able to live up to Skyrim I think is silly. But I'd be surprised if they announced a sequel to Skyrim just yet. It seems too soon to me. I could be wrong though. Doom is certainly a possibility, but I'm desperately hoping for Fallout 4! *fingers crossed*

Correct, it's hard to convince people that are carrying a torch for a particular game.
It's not a recent sentiment either: "The new TES game is good but it'll never be the same as Morrowind...", etc.

heh, yup. i remember being worried that skyrim wouldn't be as good as oblivion :x

i reckon an elder scrolls game based in black marsh, concentrating on argonians would be awesome. lizard powah!

I reckon the next TES game should take the open world s*** to the next level, with a distinct main campaign and starting city for each playable race. Mad replayability.

Yeah, its not about being 'better' as such though, I mean sure they always get better graphically, they get better mechanically, they get better at their storytelling. I'm not sure any of that is entirely responsible for Skyrim becoming the phenomenon it did though, Skyrim far, FAR outsold any previous game. I mean as above, Fallout sold 5 million copies, Oblivion sold 3.5 million copies then skyrim is 20 million copies. I'm sure thats not just because it was just a better Elder Scrolls game, I think it was in large part because it was full of dragons and badass vikings and you could shout people off cliffs. Your sales don't increase by 700% from one game to the next just because of incremental improvements in the core gameplay.

Skyrim went beyond just being a better game, it became a part of pop-culture with its music and its memes and its "Fus Roh Da". While I'm sure Bethesda will continue to improve on the gameplay and the mechanics, I think its going to be a tough feat for them to capture that lightning in a bottle and recreate the ridiculous success Skyrim enjoyed. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure the next Elder Scrolls will be fantastic, but Skyrim was like the perfect storm, it'll be hard to recreate that same pulling power imo. Or maybe I'm just too old and cynical and bitter.

Hopefully news on a Fallout 4 please. It's not their most popular series but if more people gave it a go I'm sure they would like it.

It's more about how appealing I find the prospect of taking the fight to the Aldmeri. The lore and history around it is so rich with potential that I think it could be the first Elder Scrolls game to get close to capturing the feeling of an "epic" conflict with a race that is essentially the perfect a******* to test your enchanted fist on.

Gameplay-wise it can only get better, but you can't tell me that some Redguard desert or Argonian marshland is going to be nearly as fun to traverse as cruising through Scandinavian-esque mountains on the back of a dragon.

Couldn't agree more.

IMO Oblivion was forgettable without OOO, and you're not doing it right when the best quests, factions and gear are from either the evil aligned Dark Brotherhood, or an overhaul mod.

No matter what happens from here. CD Projekt Red has our RPG backs with The Witcher 3.

Fallout 3 doesn't exist to me, Fallout: New Vegas though was pretty good. I liked Skyrim, but the melee combat was way too basic (particularly after playing Chivalry). If you are going to do first person melee combat, it has to be as visceral as Chivalry otherwise I feel it's a wasted opportunity.

I would like another TES game, Fallout game would be cool too. Black Marsh or Hammerfell would be places I would like to see in the next TES game.
