After being unofficially announced yesterday, Tripwire Interactive has today officially announced Killing Floor 2, and also released a new trailer and some details about its upcoming game.
Alan Wilson, Tripwire Interactive vice president, said, "We've all had a huge amount of fun over the last 5 years with Killing Floor. The community has done so much with it, we've done so much to it, run so many special events, and we've learned so much."
The game takes place just one month after the events of the first Killing Floor game, where "specimen clones are everywhere and civilization is in disarray." Players will track specimen clone outbreaks, then "will descend into zed-laden hot zones and exterminate them."
Those worried that the gore side of things may have been toned down a bit need not worry, with Tripwire promising that Killing Floor 2 will be gory. They've committed themselves to the cause by developing a proprietary "blood system" that will allow players to "send entrails, severed limbs, and blood flying." Other key features of the game include 6 player co-op or solo play, an expanded perk system, a reinvented melee system, and a "unique blend of weaponry," including an esoteric selection of weapons from traditional assault rifles to improvised weaponry.
Check out the trailer and a handful of screenshots below. No date has yet been revealed for Killing Floor 2, but you can expect it to appear on Windows PC and SteamOS platforms.
