Okay sure, that's a pretty bad pun. Mainly because it makes it sound like bad news. It's not. It's simply in reference to the fact that the After Dark expansion for the wonderful Cities: Skylines introduces a day/night mechanic. Anyway the point is that Nathan (nachosjustice) came up with 'Macro and Cheese' a few moments ago in relation to StarCraft. And to quote Yoda, "Begun, The Pun Wars have."

Right! Onto After Dark, the new expansion to Cities: Skylines, aka The True SimCity 5. The biggest change that comes with the expansion is the inclusion of the day-to-night-to-day mechanic, a new visual feature that will come to all owners of Cities: Skylines. Say what? We don't have to shell out any extra dough to see our cities lit by nothing but street lights and neon? Well, to take properly advantage of the new mechanic, and truly witness what happens when the sun goes down in the sprawling metropolis that is Kostaville, you'll need a copy of After Dark.

Plus, it's the only way you'll get to see and do the following.

  • Take a Tour: New tourism specializations will add high-rise hotels and other attractions for out-of-town visitors, including beach facilities if placed near the water
  • Share the Roads: New bus lanes and bicycle lanes allow cities to take advantage of alternate transportation options; new taxi system helps ferry tourists around town
  • Sunset Services: City services can be scheduled during different times on the day-and-night cycle, allowing for trash pickup at night and more public transit during the day
  • A Night Out after Lights Out: New nighttime leisure districts can be designated, leading to the arrival of nightclubs, bowling alleys, karaoke bars, and more
  • Fighting Crime and Doing Time: An increase in criminal activity at night will lead to new police activity, while new prisons can be built to contain miscreants

  • The After Dark expansion is available now at the regular purveyors of digitised games for $14.99 USD. Check out the launch trailer below.

It's the only difficult thing in the game.

It's more traffic simulator than city simulator haha. Still a great game.

I hit the unit count when laying out the road grid for my second city. So I stopped playing. If they increase the maximum entity count I might play again.
