In a new blog post that attempts to placate the hardcore PC gamer crowd, Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling has detailed a bunch of the PC specific features we can expect to see when Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 touches down in November.

The post explains that the game will support both a lobby and matchmaking system like Modern Warfare 2, but will also see the return of the dedicated servers that (awesomely) don't come saddled with 3rd party hosting requirements.
I'm extremely excited about the PC version of Modern Warfare 3 this year, because we’ve been taking your feedback since Modern Warfare 2,and the franchise as a whole, on what you wanted to see in the PC version of Modern Warfare 3 and the team at Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games has put aton of emphasis on delivering a PC experience that brings in all the great things we added in Modern Warfare 2:

Lobby System
Matchmaking with a Party
Matchmaking for Public Games
Steam Integration (Friends List, Server Browser,Achievements, Join on Friends)

While combining it with your favorite features from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare:

Dedicated Servers (Join your favorite or set up your own, without any 3rd party hosting requirements)
In-game Server Browser that allows you to filter by ping, map, gametype, hardcore, voice, password, and more.

In addition, we're supporting PC specific features that give you even more control over your experience like RCON, Custom Game Saving, NoGFX / Audio Card Requirement on DS.exe, Voice Chat, and SSAO.
The post continues with a detailed FAQ that goes into more specifics on how everything will function. A must read for any PC gamer hanging out for Modern warefare 3.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is due on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on November 8th 2011.

Clutching at straws? Horse already bolted?

I definately appreciate all the things that have added there to appease the PC gaming community, it's just a shame it's for a game i have absolutely no interest in thanks to their past wrongs.

Agreed, I'd say this is the first CoD I won't bother purchasing.

I feel the swingers will go BF3 this round, only the real hardcore CoD players will grab MW3

I don't consider myself a hardcore CoD player but I am going to buy this (as well as BF3) simply because they have restored these features... and I enjoy the CoD formula and we all that that won't change.

No lean? Not being able to adjust your max FPS? Kept IWNet P2P for ranked servers? No buy.
I may "acquire" this game to play the SP, that I still would like to play. I'm not giving them a cent though.

Do you mean that dedi server will be unranked? If so plz provide a source and also by unranked do you mean no leveling up/unlocking items in game or do you mean no leader boards and such?

Does Modern Warfare 3 on PC support an in-game Server Browser? Can you also use matchmaking? Yes! In addition to the public matchmaking system for finding Ranked public games, you can use the in-game server browser to find and favorite unranked Dedicated Servers to join, which can be filtered by a number of options mentioned above.

I never did like the Attack Dogs kill streak. I enjoy CoD for what it is, Its good to have 2 games, BF for Vehicles and sniping and Cowa'dooty for arcade FPS and cool stuff in it. Its good that infantry combat feels better in BF3 too and pistols kick arse.

Still does not answer what unranked is, I'd be a bit shocked if you can't unlock weapons and such on a dedi server, may as well not be there if that's the case. If' it's leader boards or something to do with elite then I couldn't care less. Will wait until it's out before buying it now. Thx for link Zee.

NP. From what I gathered is unranked is what the dedicated servers are, and the P2P listen servers with its matchmaking will be ranked. All of it is completely redundant as for the majority of PC players want dedi's for ranked, people only played on unranked servers for mods. IMO it's their lazy way of making us continue to pay for DLC etc. PC players want a PC experience, not a console experience, that's why we PLAY ON A PC.

My money goes to BF3. Origin is tolerable, battle log functioned fine in the beta and can only become even more refined. I officially wipe my hands clean of the COD franchise.
