Hypnospace Outlaw's alternate-reality '90s era internet simulator investigation story was a through-and-through delight. Today comes word that not only is Dreamsettler an equally strange 2000s era follow-up that takes place within a full made-up operating system, but Hypnospace character Zane is getting his own FPS with the very cool looking SlayersX.

With the full title being Slayers X: Terminal Aftermath: Vengance of the Slayer. Very cool, and bonus points for making all the weapons detailed sprites with only a handful of animation frames. As the main course though, Dreamsettler in particular sounds wonderful. It takes the core concept of Hypnospace and creates a new world to explore via a retro Operating System. Like with Hypnospace Outlaw, you'll be installing apps, browing the web, checking emails, and uncovering strange mysteries.

Dreamsettler is an alternate-reality '00s internet simulator, where you play the role of a digital private eye, trawling the Somnius Sleepnet, finding users to help… and global conspiracies to unearth.

You'll spend much of Dreamsettler simply browsing the weird and wonderful net, receiving emails from users who need your aid, and downloading apps, games, videos, images and music that should raise your profile, and make you one of the best detectives on Sleepnet.

But soon you'll be unravelling conspiracy theories and dabbling with a strange and endearing cast of characters, as your role in this online plot gets deeper and deeper, eventually determining the very future of sleeptime computing.

Slayers X: Terminal Aftermath: Vengance of the Slayer is the new first-person shooter from Zane Lofton, aka ZANE_ROCKS_36, aka Big Z Studios Inc.

First started back in the 90s, Slayers X is the story of Zane's journey to take down The Psyko Sindikate, who are using Hackblood energy to bring evil enemies to life and take over the world.

After Zane recently found Slayers X on an old CD-ROM, he began working on the game again… and it's nearly, finally ready to show to the world. Thank goodness Zane survived the Hypnospace Y2K Mindcrash, and is now able to bring this slice of joy into our lives.

Two new games in the Hypnospace universe is awesome news, the original made our Top 10 Games of 2019 list for good reason, in addition to scoring highly in our full review. Where we wrote, "There’s a dreamlike quality to it all that’s also hard to pin down, in addition to being funny and intelligent and absurd. Solving cases is in many ways like solving puzzles in an old detective point-and-click adventure – but via surfing the web."

And really it's that hook that excites us more than anything. That, and there's also an in universe retro FPS to look forward to.
