Just when you thought it was impossible to fit another MOBA into your steady diet of quick 'get-in, play-a-few-rounds, then forget about whatever-it-was-you-were supposed-to-be-doing' diet comes the intriguing Hyper Universe from Nexxon. Having already found success in Asian markets Hyper Universe is coming to western audiences at some point this year. And as the announcement trailer highlights, it looks like a lot of fun.

We're not exactly sure how the change in perspective will affect the standard MOBA formula, but side-scrolling beat-em ups have been a video game staple for decades. So if ti nails that, then the rest is gravy.

In Hyper Universe, players will take control of one of a multitude of battle-ready “Hypers” and use their insane abilities to defeat the opposing team and bring about victory. Taking many shapes and sizes, the Hypers range from a mage who rains down giant snowmen on his enemies, to a mongoose riding astride an armored rhinoceros, to a tentacled Admiral with the power of the kraken at his call, and more! The distinctive playable characters, inspired by legendary icons in popular culture, fall into a diverse set of both new and traditional MOBA roles to create a frenetic battlefield filled with a wealth of crazy techniques and exhibitions of skill.

One interesting fact is that Hyper Universe is played using both hands on the keyboard.
