As part of a new PlayStation State of Play stream from earlier this morning, we got a truly impressive first-look at Horizon Zero West gameplay, running on PlayStation 5. Clocking at around 14 minutes we see Aloy in a lush beachfront, where she sneaks, battles, and grapples her way through a cinematic slice of the highly anticipated sequel.
Check it out.
In terms of new stuff there's the aforementioned grapple, being able to mount and ride dino-bots, and new underwater traversal that showcases a side of the post-apocalyptic world of Horizon as beautiful as anything above the surface.
Running on PlayStation 5 there are obvious visual improvements in this sequel, utilising some of the advanced features found in the PC release of Horizon Zero Dawn -- from more detailed physics and foliage to draw distances. But, you know, dialed up to 11. The way light streams through the environment and catches Aloy's hair is something to behold, and the depth of field effects are movie quality. And then there's the pure action spectacle of Aloy going up against a large robotic Tusk.
Horizon Forbidden West is a true next-gen showcase, and this gameplay debut is more than impressive -- it's jaw dropping. The only thing missing is a release date, with Guerrilla taking to Twitter to state "development is on track and we will have an update for you very soon".
