A recent forum post by Martin Kerstein, head of Global Community for Guild Wars 2, has detailed event plans for the upcoming content patch "The Lost Shores". While no specifics have been given as of what to expect in this very mysterious update, the forum post has detailed the event timings for those who are needing to place it in their calendar.
Something is stirring in the Sea of Sorrows – and we want to make sure that you are not missing out, so here is a schedule (without spoilers) for you, so you can plan ahead:
  • On Friday November 16th at noon PST (Saturday 17th at 6AM AEST) the weekend will kick off with an Event in Lion’s Arch that you don’t want to miss. This will trigger events in other parts of Tyria as well.

  • On Saturday November 17th at noon PST (Sunday 18th at 6AM AEST), another phase will kick in. Each phase is triggered by a special event, but you will be able to enjoy additional content afterwards even if you cannot make the kick-off time. There is one exception:

  • The event will culminate in a big Finale on Sunday November 18, make sure you will not miss it. This will be a one time only event chain that will run multiple hours, and it will kick off at noon PST (Monday 18th at 6AM AEST). Again, this will only run once, so make sure you will be there! There will be plenty of content available to enjoy that will remain permanently in the world as a result of the outcome of this event on Sunday.
Recently players have been noticing new posters appearing in the Lion's Arch hub, which when deciphered are mentioning sea creatures, boats and islands. Players are also noticing beached whales along the coast of Lion's Arch, pointing even more evidence towards some form of ocean involved content.

You can check out the official page for the upcoming Lost Shores event, and let us know in the comments below if you spot anything out of the ordinary in the next two weeks leading up to the content update.

I hit 80 a little over two weeks ago and still only have 67% of the world explored and now there is going to be even more to check out. I have to wonder how long they are going to keep up this rate of introducing things to the game since we only just completed the halloween event.

I'm hoping these events and new content aren't a one off thing. Already missed out on the halloween event as I was overseas. This one looks like it'll be great, and I love big events, but I'd want something that stay in game after said event is over.

According to a recent livestream with MMORPG, this event will open a new area that will be permanent after the weekend event, and apparently change the Tyria as well in some way. Check out more here if you are interested (warning, some spoilers).

This seems like a really bad idea. They should have the event repeat several times over the course of the weekend instead of asking the entire world to fit in with their schedule and have a million people log in at once.

I don't want to get up early on a weekend.

Yeah with a big hype like that every man and his black dog will want to be in the same zone.
I wonder if the events happen in the overflow servers as well?

each phase lasts for a particular number of days so you don't have to worry about the servers getting overloaded.
