As expected since its announcement during Sony's E3 2014 press conference on Tuesday, Rockstar's newly announced Grand Theft Auto V for PC has appeared on Steam, boasting a number of enhancements over its previously PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 counterparts.

According to the description, the game "will take full advantage of the power of PC to deliver across-the-board enhancements including increased resolution and graphical detail, denser traffic, greater draw distances, upgraded AI, new wildlife, and advanced weather and damage effects for the ultimate open world experience."

It will also come with a video editor "designed for advanced movie-making," just like the PC version of its predecessor, Grand Theft Auto IV. That editor allowed users to capture in-game footage, make edits in real-time, render the clips as WMV movie files and upload them to the Rockstar Social Club.

Sadly there is still no word on the long-awaited heist missions, and whether they will come packed in with the launch on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but here is hoping for more information as we get closer to the launch window of Spring 2014. Until then, check out the E3 2014 announcement trailer below.

cheers dude.

was hoping for a *nix port for Steam.. seems that is bigger news these days than the eventual PC warezfest that's coming. Happy to support the new platform here.

I hope it's better optimized than GTA4 was, that thing still chugs on a machine that blows a Xbox 360 or PS3 out of the water.

I've seen a few good multiplayer shenanigans on the machinima channel, looks like a load of fun (they use the xbox version I think).

more like "we took the same textures that are in the s***** console version and resized them in photoshop" like every other console / PC game.

Never been a big fan of GTA series but I may get this and break the rule.

+1 for the Linux port and hopefully not a s***** wrapper either.
