Which according to developer Counterplay Games, the Godfall footage we see is running on a PlayStation 5 dev kit. That said the YouTube clip (after the jump) is a 1080p 60fps joint - so, heavily compressed and not exactly the sort "wow... next-gen amiright" demo you might be hoping for.
That said, setting aside the video artifacts - the action here looks smooth. Check it out.
Godfall, from Counterplay and Gearbox Publishing, is described as an action-RPG "looter-slasher" set in a fantasy universe. This means plenty of weapon types and skills and builds to sort through in addition to it's fast-paced melee combat.
As per this breakdown of the PS5 gameplay we see, Keith Lee, CEO of Counterplay Games notes that the game will also make full use of the PS5's DualSense controller - and its haptic feedback tech.
We take advantage of the DualSense controller’s haptic feedback to simulate a variety of surfaces and textures. Imagine walking along a marble floor — the way it feels different through your boots compared to walking over gravel, dirt, or a rain-slicked field. If you were sliding along a fiery molten floor, say in the heat of battle to dodge an enemy attack, you would sense the unique surface without needing to look at it.
Plus, the adaptive triggers of the DualSense too - to add weight to each hit. The video also goes deep into the combat too, showcasing Dual Blade and Longsword forms.
Godfall is on track for a 2020 release, meaning it's probably going to be a launch title.
