Ghost Recon Frontline was announced last year, a free-to-play 100+ player battle royale set in the Ghost Recon universe. A reveal that arrived alongside a gameplay trailer showcasing its look. As part of a new Ubisoft financial report and earnings call, we've learned that it has been canceled.

Along with the planned Splinter Cell VR game that was announced when the Meta Quest 2 was first announced and two previously unannounced games due to what Ubisoft calls economic uncertainty. As we've seen the Splinter Cell VR game in action its cancellation shouldn't affect the planned Splinter Cell remake/reboot that's currently in development.

Ghost Recon Frontline's cancellation is definitely a little surprising considering it got a reveal late last year (watch the trailer above), where it joined xDefiant as another free-to-play shooter set in the Tom Clancy universe. As it wasn't brought up in the earnings call it's assumed that xDefiant is still in development.
