"Building has been wiped out!" So goes the reveal for Fornite Chapter 3, Season 2: Resistance, which is removing building options for players for the first time in the Battle Royale's history. And with this there will be a greater focus on player movement and the addition of Overshield to help maintain that defense.

"Before your Shield and Health take a hit, it’s your Overshield that’ll crack," writes Epic. This is a major change that will arrive alongside faster movement speed across running and sprinting and mantling. Plus the introduction of an Armored Battle Bus.

Here's the story trailer for the next season.

Weapons are also getting updated to reflect the change. No doubt the skill level between casual players and those that are masters of building has been growing steadily so this change is already garnering a broad range of responses from the community. It'll be interesting to see how it all plays out, and what Fortnite will look like without players creating crazy structures at break-neck speed.

In other Fortnite news, Epic has announced that all proceeds from March 20, 2022 through to April 3, 2022 will go towards humanitarian relief for people affected by the war in Ukraine.
