This weekend saw the return of April 1st, that day when sometimes plausible but mostly silly announcements, pranks, and jokes make the rounds on the internet. In gaming terms it's a time for developers, publishers, and influencers to flex their creative muscles and come up with fun new April Foolery. This year was no different, and we've round-up the ones that tickled our Foolery-bones.
First up, comes the very-real and playable 8-Bit Bayonetta from Sega and Platinum Games. Well, sorta playable in that you can jump and shoot. Chalk this one up to "we wish it were real because a 2D Bayonetta would be pretty awesome." Check it out.
Sometimes the simpler the better, like the following post from id Software announcing a Floppy Disk version of last year's DOOM.
How about a Blizzcon 'Choose Your Own Adventure' style book? It's just like being there. Actually, it's fairly accurate.
The latest addition to Hitman sees Agent 47 take all those disguises to the runway.
Nvidia introduced GeForce GTX G-Assist, where AI technology can play the game for you. Nothing controversial about that.
Back on the Blizzard front a new announcer was, err, announced for StarCraft II. The Overlord. If you know your StarCraft, then this is hilarious. And something we'd pay good money for.
And finally, there's World of Tanks: Mars.
There was probably a whole bunch of great Foolery that we missed out on, so feel free to post them in the comments.
