Square Enix has unveiled the official release for their re-booted MMO Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, which will see a re-release on August 27 for both the PC release and for the first time a PlayStation 3 release.

Originally released in 2010, the second Final Fantasy MMO was harshly received, with a large amount of the playerbase leaving shortly after launch causing Square Enix to quickly halt subscription costs. Since 2011, a complete re-design has been in production that has changed everything from UI through to questing and map design plus a complete graphical overhaul.

Alongside the new release date, Square Enix has also announced that pre-orders are now available for both a standard edition and a collector's edition. The CE will include: a collector's box designed by Yoshitaka Amano; 80-page “Art of Eorzea” hardcover art book; bonus video disc; “Sounds of Eorzea” soundtrack; five collectable character art cards; Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn-branded security token to secure user accounts and in-game bonus items.

Those who do pre-order will also receive early access to the game servers ahead of launch, a Cait Sith Doll minion and a Mog Cap to strut around the world of Eorzea.

Can't be pre-ordered here since I'm trying and there is no Australia country setting.

EDIT - Stupid, it's in the EU section for some reason.

Taken from the following page "http://eu.finalfantasyxiv.com/en/product/" it appears that owners of the original FF14 collectors edition do get the in game items for the new collectors edition for free. Hopefully I still get my original in game collectors items as well.

Collector's Edition Digital Upgrade Service
The Collector's Edition digital upgrade offers customers the ability to upgrade their standard FFXIV account to Collector's Edition status via the “FFXIV Service Center” website that is scheduled to be opened at the launch of official service, which then grants the in-game bonus items included with the Collector's Edition. Customers in possession of the Collector's Edition for either version 1.0 or A Realm Reborn will receive these Collector's Edition items without needing to purchase the upgrade.
