March 26 to be exact, which is when Nintendo and Xbox fans will be able to relive their favourite Buster sword and Cloud Strife memories. But today, comes the release of that friend you have's favourite Final Fantasy game, Final Fantasy IX. So now there's no excuse to avoid responding to the question, 'have you played 9 though?'.

Originally released in 2000, Final Fantasy IX is a thrilling tale of love, war, magic and self-discovery. Newcomers and veterans alike can experience legendary moments with Zidane, Vivi, princess Garnet and others with modern enhancements on the Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Windows 10, including high-definition movies and character models, auto-save functionality and more.

It's worth noting that this version seems to be based on the recent mobile port of the game - as it features the same UI overhaul of the Android release. That said, word from those currently playing the game is that the new UI works well and the differences between it and the original release aren't drastic enough to warrant a revolt. As is the way with die-hard fans of classic RPGs. Today's re-release of Final Fantasy IX is also available on Windows 10.
