FIFA 23 is set to launch on September 30 (or September 27 for those with the Ultimate Edition), and it's set to present the next evolution of the series across Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. PS4 and Xbox One versions also coming, with 1v1 cross-play coming to both versions of the game.

Cross-play will be separated by hardware generation, though it's great to see that PC is finally in the mix.

In terms of tech FIFA 23 introduces HyperMotion2 Technology, the next version of its impressive animation tool that now boasts over 6000 authentic animations taken from countless hours of real-world match capture with the help of Machine Learning. The tech made its debut last year, and as per the trailer below - is really coming into its own with FIFA 23.

Elsewhere stadium and pitch detail has been upgraded, and the results look spectacular - and will react and deform with marks for the duration of a match.



As per the headline, one of the other cool things to look forward to is the addition of the men’s FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023 modes that will arrive as free post-launch content updates. This also means that women's football is getting a bigger inclusion this year, with the addition of the Barclays FA Women’s Super League and Division 1 Arkema on day one.

In terms of gameplay and mechanics, FIFA 23 is making a few notable changes, namely the addition of a Power Shot mechanic - that will add a new option for undefended or well-positioned strikers. Penalties, free kicks, and corners have also been redesigned to give players more options and control over things like trajectory, angles, and curling the ball. This is all bolstered by a revamped physics system that now accurately measures and captures where collisions happen and how limbs absorb impact. The AI has also apparently been overhauled to behave more realistically.

And for newcomers, there's the new Training Centre to help you learn all of the moves. And with the Career Mode and VOLTA making a return, expect a few deep dives on those and all of the above as we head closer to match-time.
