Fallout Shelter -- the smash hit fallout shelter management game from Bethesda, is now available on Google Play, the publisher has announced.

"What exactly is Fallout Shelter? Well, unless you've been living in a shelter for the past few months, it's a Fallout game for smartphones. One that puts you in direct control over your very own fallout shelter. Hmm, I guess if you've been living in a shelter then perhaps you should wait a while before you grab your free copy."
Praised for its fun, addicting gameplay, and for its player-friendly approach to in-app purchases, Fallout Shelter has received accolades from some of the industry’s leading outlets, earning ‘Game of the Week’ from Touch Arcade and nominations for ‘Biggest Surprise’ from IGN and ‘Best Handled/Mobile Game’ from the official Game Critics Awards.

Today’s launch includes all-new game updates, including the introduction of Mr. Handy – the ultimate robotic companion – as a premium reward. Use him to collect resources inside your Vault, send him into the wasteland to collect caps, or defend your Vault from creatures and disasters, including new Deathclaw invasions and Molerat infestations.

Fallout Shelter is a post-nuclear strategy and simulation experience that puts you in control of a state-of-the-art underground Vault. Build the perfect Vault from a variety of rooms, oversee your very own thriving community of Vault Dwellers, and protect them from the dangers of the Wasteland.
Now available on iOS, Android and Google, the game is likely going to be even more successful, but for me, it still crashes at crucial junctures leaving me desperate and alone. Always. I probably need help.

Grab it for Google Play right here. Are you still playing?

Heaps of fun, if you search for it you have to scroll down a bit its like #19, kinda strange that FALLOUT 4 COUNTER is above it.

It took me a little bit to work it out but its great fun. Here's a tip, send out someone asap into the waste lands and get loot back. It's the only way I've found. You should get armor and weapon early on and a special dude. Send him out and wait. Also keep all the females pregnant all the time because it takes 3 hours? maybe more for a kid to be born and more for it to grow up. Pregnant people can still work so they will be out of action for a little while.

Steve whats your device? It's probably because you're a noob

iOS. It's weird, because it's the most recent version all the time, but whenever I get a fair way in (have all the gyms etc), it'll open, then crash, then whenever I try and open the app again it doesn't get past the main artwork before just dying on me. The only way around is to re-download it, but doing that destroys all my shelters, so I have to start again. It's infuriating!

Oh man not being able to save your game file is really terrible :( Glad I'm not up to that stage yet!

I installed it this morning. Its alright but I wish I had a tablet to play it on. Playing it on a Galaxy S3 currently and it works alright.

Damn, I just remembered I can play this on PC with an android emulator thing.

Add Bethesda to your search to make it a bit easier to find.

It's never crashed for me but I am still early game. My problem is water production or too many people in the vault. Its an ok game for what it is, a mobile game.

Does it get harder?

I figured out early on how to keep water/power/food flowing properly and my dwellers are at 90% happiness. It just seems like it's a waiting game now just unlocking stuff.
I've got a dweller returning from a 7 hour trek into the Wasteland and he is loaded with weapons and outfits. Which will make it easier to supply my base with those bonus stats from outfits.

Set it up on an android emulator for the missus to play on the telly. her vaults kinda 10,000 times to big for a mobile screen nowdays. looks cool on a big screen.

Yeah I'm in the same boat. I thought something would come up but 3 days in I see no point in continuing, sadly :(. It's such a fun game and great execution but it lacks an end game. It has nothing to keep you beyond the 3 day mark. The higher tier buildings are just more efficient so beyond the training rooms there isn't anything else to really build.

I was expecting to go raid other vaults or be attacked by something other than raiders (supposedly you might get attacked by a deathclaw but it never happened to me). I had one dude sitting at the front with a rocket launcher and he killed all the raiders. The lunchboxes are fairly useless, I'm not sure why anyone would actually buy them when everything is done in 3 days.

The game doesn't let you destroy buildings that are sandwiched which is really annoying. So after I realised I had done everything already I wanted to make my vault look flash or more efficient but that went out the window.

Forbes does game reviews now (kinda weird actually) and they did a write up:
http://www.forbes.com/sites/insertcoin/2015/08/13/a-warning-to-new-fallout-shelter-players-on-android/ This quote sums up my experience of mobile gaming:
Fallout Shelter, for all its pretty aesthetics and association with one of gaming’s best franchises, is a game that perfectly encapsulates the shallowness of mobile.

Also on nexus 4 it was running fairly well (but drained the battery) up until I think 5th floor then it was struggling to keep up with the game.

Hmm, I've been considering buying an Android tablet to replace my aging and frequently slow iPad mini (gen1) - an XPeria Z3 Tablet Compact has the advantage of having that PS4 remote functionality that I've never used once on my Z3 Compact phone so far, but hey, "I might one day"... or a Galaxy Tab mini of some sort.

Considering I'm going to have to send my Z3C back for repair/replacement so I can use various stuff in the meantime, including Fallout Shelter...

I've been playing a lot today due to having a f***ed back, so no work and not being able to sit for extended periods of time no pc gaming.
It is fun enough, but I can see the fun wearing out once all the building is done, also no way I would pay for lunch boxes.
Lack of end game content will be a bit s***.
Been playing on an s3 and and a Galaxy tab.
Also tried the blue stacks emulator worked fine but I decided to Uninstall because I prefer to play proper games on pc and this is more of a distraction/time killer.

I just realised you can combine 3 rooms... god damn im an idiot. I thought the max was 2 because when I tried 2+1 the 2 was another level up so it didnt merge. Never tried it again so all my rooms are now 2. Can't destroy the buildings because it's you need to destroy everything above. faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaark.

You only need to destroy the rooms on the end of the floor. This is so that no rooms are 'stranded'. As long as your dwellers can get to all rooms after the demolition, you can demolish any room.

Edit: this means you can build a second elevator to the far end of a floor and demolish rooms between the two elevators.

Didn't realise you can send Mr Handy off. The longer you send it out the better loot you get. Also supposedly you can send Mr handy out to collect items. Is that what youre doing?

I broke Mr Handy, he got smashed by deathclaws but then somehow got back up again and goes around working like normal... cant control it because its technically dead.

Whats the point of the packs of radaway? I've built up a bit of a stockpile of them but never had to use any, and even when I give my guys going out exploring a bunch of them they never use any.

They get rid of radiation (shows as a red part of the health bar).
Your guys can get irradiated from being in the wasteland if their stats aren't good. They can also get irradiated if your water plant's output drops too low.

I haven't had to use too many of them, I usually produce a batch then reassign my dweller to do something more useful.

Khel if you send out a dude to explore, make sure you give them Radaway and lots of it, also lots of stimpacks.

P.S Can tell youre not a fallout player :P

I sent one of my dudes out to explore over night, gave him like 15 stimpacks and 5 packs of radaway and called him back this morning, he had used all his stimpacks and none of the radaway, so I was just wondering.

he only collects caps from what I ahve seen. had him out for 12hrs and only got caps.

I usually send out a Mr Handy for caps and a dweller with 10 med kits and 10 rad packs for 8~12 hrs at a time. they usually come back loaded. I found that after 8Hrs out there my dweller is usually down to 3 med kits

What really sucks is that you cannot repair Mr Handy, he blows up and you need to pay 2k.
