In a recent Reddit AMA, Fallout 76 project lead Jeff Gardiner said "Let's just say the Brotherhood is now watching the wasteland of West Virginia very closely..." Discussing the game and the recent release of the massive Wastelanders expansion, he was asked about other known Fallout-universe factions and their connection to the game.

And with that little nod it sounds like the Brotherhood of Steel could be be making an appearance in an upcoming update. As one of the more well-known factions within Fallout lore, the Brotherhood of Steel is a group of technology obsessed militants that love nothing more than spending an evening judiciously applying some WD-40 into the joints of their favourite Power Armor.

With Wastelanders seeing the arrival of human NPCs in the form of Raider gangs, cultists, and various settlers, the Fallout 76 of 2020 is very different to the one that launched well over a year ago. Which is a good thing, because the lack of NPCs and a litany of bugs and performance issues made the launch feel more than a little incomplete.

And with the inclusion of new Allies, that is new characters that act in the same way that companions found in Fallout 3 and Fallout 4 did, pets could also be coming soon too. In a response to the question, Gardiner added, "Edible ones? I kid. Now that we have our companions system in the game, we are looking to add pets as well."

Cue - the obligatory picture of Dogmeat.

Bethesda is planning to continue support for Fallout 76 throughout the year and is expected to release an updated roadmap soon. The Wastelanders update is currently free for all Fallout 76 players.
