After debuting on the Xbox One back in May, it looked like console mod support for Bethesda Games Studios' Fallout 4 was finally a reality. Except that the developer ran in a bit of trouble getting the feature to work on PS4. Namely of the having to use PC textures, no custom sound support, and a total mod limit of 900MB variety. At the time Bethesda stated that they were working with Sony on the issue. An issue that has yet to be resolved.

PC players have known the value that mods bring to Bethesda's open world games for years, so the news of its console integration was generally well received when it was announced back at E3 2015.

Being radio silent on the matter has no doubt angered quite a few PS4 players looking forward to proper Fallout 4 mod integration. With the latest tweet from the official Fallout 4 twitter account stating that the issue is still "under evaluation".

All signs point to the ball being in Sony's court regarding what Bethesda will need to make it happen, but even so, perhaps they shouldn't have been so quick to announce PS4 mod support if there were still huge roadblocks in the way.
