The studio behind the wonderful Forza Horizon series expanded a while back to begin working on a new open-world game. With Playground Games in the UK at the helm, at the time it was heavily rumoured to be the next entry in the Fable series. Maybe that was wishful thinking. Either way as they say in the Prophecy Game... the Legends are true.
But, the legend be told in CG trailer form.
Fable returns with a new beginning for the legendary franchise. Explore a land of fantastical creatures and wondrous places. Developed by Playground Games for Xbox Series X and Windows 10.
Not much to go on other than our own excitement that Fable is back. And the tone of this trailer is spot on, so we can't wait to see it all running on next-gen hardware.
Plus, Playground are a talented bunch. And on top of that the studio has been shoring up talent from the likes of Rockstar (GTA V), Konami (Metal Gear Solid), Rocksteady (Batman: Arkham Series), BioWare (various), and Guerilla Games (Horizon: Zero Dawn) going as far back as 2018.
Interestingly, as reported by our friends over at Press Start, Fable may not make its way to Xbox One ala Microsoft's promise of forwards and backwards compatibility. Unlike the Halo Infinite trailer the tag only lists Xbox Series X and Windows 10. This could mean that its release wont happen for a while. 2022 or later a while.
